:- I agree with Keikain, Number 1 seems like the best choice so far and if it doesn't help we can always try something else. It has really increased recently and it really is annoying for sure. --[[User:Lord inioch|Lord inioch]] 09:39, 1 February 2013 (EST)

I've implemented ConfirmAccount and all is looking good. Right now, only I can give approval - and this will be the case for the next few days. Once I'm happy everything is running smoothly, I will setup the means for others to approve accounts as well. I expect I will create a new user group for this, then add anyone who wants to be involved.

[edit] Preventing Spam Accounts

As anyone who's watched the recent changes have seen, we're gaining an ever growing collection of spam accounts. So far, I have been blocking the ones that cause problems; and thanks to many - the spam they cause is caught pretty early.

However, I'm starting to think this isn't enough. So far I've come across several solutions:-

1. Using an extension such as ConfirmAccount to require approval before an account is created(potentially by me or by anyone who regularly edit the wiki). Then deleting all accounts that have yet to make an edit on the wiki.

2. Using another extension that will autoblock anything that links to external websites outside what is allowed.

I am inclined to do (1), given it's pretty easy for people to show they actually play SMT:Imagine (or as a last resort, can pm me on Atlus forums). Number (2) doesn't feel as good, how do you define external websites allowed?

Any thoughts, opinions or ideas?

- Yes, it definitely seems like a growing frustration, seeing the rate at which it accelerated. I think the first suggestion is likely the most non-intrusive. Number 2 seems like it might be troublesome for those that source and link to other resources (not that I'm really fastidious enough with that), but I'm sure a list could be narrowed down, if it comes to that. --Keikain 09:32, 1 February 2013 (EST)
